Authoritative Guidance Summary

DEFCON 643 (Price Fixing) and DEFCON 648/648A (Availability of Information) require contractors to maintain a record of such cost data as may be available from their normal accounting procedures, together with any supplementary information the Ministry of Defence (MOD) may reasonably require for the purpose of determining production costs.

Under DEFCON 643, the work under contract should be priced on a 'price-to-be-agreed' basis no later than when the work has been 25% completed.

Detailed guidance on the various clauses is provided under Authoritative Guidance.
