The Through Life Management Plan (TLMP) in the Assessment Phase

The Format of the TLMP

Typically the TLMP during the Assessment phase will be managed as a text document (e.g. Microsoft Word), with hyperlinks or Annexes to link to detailed plans and documents.

Activities during the Assessment phase

Strategies and Plans in TLMPs are developed and will form the basis for preparation of the Main Gate Business Case.

  • Risk Management
  • Approvals
  • Requirements Management
  • Assessment strategy
  • Technology Management.

Strategies for Acceptance, Transition, In-Service and Disposal and other downstream implications are further developed from the initial thinking in Concept phase.

Whole Life Cost information is generated for the Main Gate approval and populated in Section 5 of the TLMP.

Results of the Main Gate approval are used to update the TLMP for the next phase.

The TLMP Checklist gives further guidance on the content of the TLMP for Main Gate.

Activities at the end of Assessment Phase / Prior to the start of the Demonstration phase

  • The TLMP is updated and re-focussed, to develop the detailed planning for Demonstration/Manufacture work.
  • Review and update Mission and Objectives, and Stakeholder sections, to reflect the outcome of the Main Gate decision.
  • Section 6 Evaluation of Success will review the outcome of the Assessment phase against objectives.
  • LFE from Assessment Phase and Main Gate identified.
