Planning for Quality

Key activities

The following is a list of key activities that IPTLs and/or their nominated competent Quality Focal Point and Team need to do when planning for quality:

Control internal processes. Consider setting up an IPT Quality (Business) Management System.
Document the Project Quality Strategy (PQS).
Produce a Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP), specifying which procedures and associated resources shall be applied, by whom and when, to specific project activities. Make sure that:
- The PQMP is linked to the Through Life Management Plan and the PQS.
- The PQMP is reviewed regularly and updated when necessary.
- Resources for managing quality are available, and continue to be made available.
Consider forming a Quality Assurance Group (QAG) to facilitate the management and co-ordination of all planned quality assurance/management activities.
Select contractors who have an appropriate Quality Management System Certification.
If software is involved, consider additional Software QA requirements.
