Comparability Analysis

What is a Comparability Analysis?

Comparability Analysis compares existing capabilities or solutions against the proposed solution. Analysis of existing in-service, predecessor or analogous equipment with characteristics of the proposed solution may reveal human factor issues that must be addressed during the project.

What does Comparability Analysis produce?

The analysis should provide decision makers with information on competing design proposals in order to assess the supportability of each from a human factor standpoint.

How is Comparability Analysis produced?

Comparability analysis should be produced from data made available by relevant projects or systems. It should also be based on the early human factors analysis and other baseline project activities that have been undertaken.

What topics impact Comparability Analysis?

When should Comparability Analysis be produced?

Comparability analysis should be undertaken in conjunction with the EHFA. Although the analysis can be undertaken during initial phases of an acquisition process, it is most effective if undertaken during the early stages within the concept of the project.

Does Comparability Analysis affect any other processes?

Yes, it affects the User Requirement Document (URD) and System Requirement Document (SRD).
