What is the role of Departmental Planning ?

Departmental Planning delivers a balanced and coherent Defence Programme within the budget allocated to the MOD by HM Treasury:

  • The MOD planning staffs generate:
    • Resource Control Totals (RCTs) for the User and Capability Sponsor
    • Programme Operating Costs for DE&S.
  • The Capability Sponsor identifies the cost of:
    • New equipment and associated support in years 1-10
    • Supporting in-service equipment in years 5-10.
  • The User identifies the costs of supporting in-service equipment in years 1-4.
  • The 10-year Equipment and Support (E&S) Plan brings these component parts together as a single programme.
  • The E&S Plan is based on a single data set held by Programme and Project Teams. It is used to support decision making across the Acquisition Community.
