Acquisition People Priorities

The People Priorities stems from the Defence Values for Acquisition (DVfA) and demonstrates how we will work.

Every employee must to show how they demonstrate the behaviours that underpin the DVfA and the People Priorities in their role.

All Civilian staff will be assessed against the DVfA in their annual appraisal.

The People Priorities are:

  • People – We support our people to develop and deliver to the highest standards:
    • Develop and support our people to improve performance.
    • Recognise achievements.
    • Provide constructive feedback for personal development.
  • Delivery – We take a through–life approach, balancing stability with agility:
    • Focus on what is Best for Defence.
    • Act from a ‘through-life’ perspective.
    • Balance agility and stability; build in flexibility.
  • Professionalism – We seek, develop and apply professional good practice at all times:
    • Acquire and maintain Skills and Qualifications to do the job.
    • Invest in professional development.
    • Use common tools and methods, do not re-invent the wheel.
  • Integrity – We seek the facts and continuously improve our performance:
    • Continuously review, improve and learn from our mistakes.
    • Make clear, open decisions based on facts.
    • Report and receive good news and bad constructively.
  • Partnership – We work together to deliver the Defence Industrial Strategy:
    • Work as a single integrated team (across boundaries).
    • Understand and meet the needs of customers (internal and external).
    • Share knowledge, information and experience.

The People Priorities form the basis for team and individual conversations to decide how the values and behaviours will be incorporated into their day to day roles and activities.
