Purpose and Role of the User

What is the User ?

The User is the ultimate customer for all Defence Acquisition business.

What is the Role of the User ?

The User role covers all MOD activity connected with the delivery of current Military Capability (MC) and its successful use in operational situations.

The User advises and assists in the planning of future capability, accepts new equipment into service and has a role in the assessment of current capability.

The Users key roles include:

  • The formation of Policy
  • Capability development
  • Requirement prioritisation
  • The production of Force Elements at Readiness (FE@R) and Force Elements at Sustainability (FE@S) to deliver the desired result
  • Programming of equipment support costs
  • Providing an operational point of view into the Acquisition process
  • Capability integration across all Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs)
  • Providing assurance of the capability delivered.
